Sat Nav Navigation Competition, Europe

Big opportunity awaits you in form of the competition organized by the European Satellite Authorities. The European Satellite Navigation Competition that is going to take place this year under the overall supervision of the Technology Transfer Program Office.

The event is annual. The 2008 event was held on May 1st, 2008 and the competition has now reached its fifth year.

No less than 650 outstanding ideas on the use of satellite navigation have come up with these competitions since the year 2004 when it took place for the first time.

In the year 2007 alone there were as many as 250 novel ideas that came up from the competitors from all over Europe. The ESNC is not only a think tank fro the future use of the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems named Galileo.

It is also a catalyst for high level technological industry around Europe. The best part of the competition is that many ideas emanating from it have been transformed into successful business patterns.

During the year 2008, The ESA also introduced one of the special prizes for the winning competitors. The winner would get direct support from any one of the three ESA business incubation centers.

These centers are located at ESTEC, Netherlands, ESOC, Germany, and ESRIN in Italy. Top experts helped them and they had also direct access to the space technologies. Organizers of the competition intend to carry on the legacy in the year 2009 as well.

Just as the previous competition was open from May 1st to July 31st in the year 2008, this year also the competitors will be getting no less than a couple of months to put forth their novel ideas participating in the competition. All entries however are required to be made online.

The competition is now supported by 13 regions in and around Europe and has now crossed the geographical barriers across Europe to Taiwan and Australia.

The overall winner will be the Galileo Master 2009 as the winner received the award in 2008. The prize includes 20,000 Euro in addition to an office and also six months support in order to convert the idea into practice. The idea is to be inducted in some business product in the region from where the idea emanated.

Last year, the winners were announced through an official presentation held on the 21st day of October, 2008. The memory is live in minds of many competitors and the response is huge in the current year.

Like last year also when the presentation was made at the International SYSTEMS Trade Fair in Munich, this year also the organizers have proposed to hold the event in similar venue.

One of the novelties of the competition is that there are no restrictions on participation and no tag is there either for any of the participants.
