Stone

the Semitic group of languages.
The Semitic group of languages also includes Hebrew and
Amharic which is the most widely spoken language in
Ethiopia.
The Arabic language includes many
dialects. Among these are classical Arabic which is the
language of the Qur’an and modern standard Arabic which is
currently used in books, newspapers, television and radio.

Dr. Paul Pimsleur
Simon and Schuster’s Pimsleur Language courses provide the
listener with a comprehensive, self instructional,
step-by-step guide on how to learn Egyptian Arabic as a new
language.
While the local versions of the
language may vary they are typically based on the same
principals.
Learning the Arabic language takes time and much practice
but it typically no more difficult than learning any other
foreign language. It has been considered to be much less
difficult to learn than Latin and German.
The Arabic language system is constructed from three letter
root letters. The addition of other letters before, between and
after the root letters is what produces the many associated
words in the language.
The vocabulary may actually be the most difficult aspect of
the Arabic language to comprehend. In most European languages
you will find words which will resemble English versions of
those same words.
The Arabic vocabulary contains very few of these
similarities although it does become easier to grasp once you
have mastered a few of the root words.
There are 28 consonants and only three vowels in the Arabic
language. These vowels can be long or short and most sounds are
unique to the Arabic language which makes them difficult for
those who do not speak the language to pronounce them
perfectly.
You will through time however, learn to speak them well
enough to be understood.
Using a foreign language learning system is the best and
easiest way to comprehend the Arabic language if you are not
planning to study the language in a structured setting.
For instance if you are not studying Arabic in school then
one of these programs or a combination of them will provide you
with the learning experience that you need to become quite
fluent in Arabic.
Rosetta Stone Arabic Language Learning Software
and Pimsleur both offer excellent programs that
are geared toward providing an exciting and easy to follow
learning system to teach the Arabic language. If you are
struggling to choose between the many offered programs,
these two make wonderful choices.
They are best used together as the Rosetta Stone program
teaches basic speech but focuses more on the reading and
writing aspects. The Pimsleur program teaches speech through
listening and will help you to master the language very
quickly.
As with learning any foreign language, in order to
completely master Arabic you must devote time to learning and
practice as often as possible. Remember that practice makes
perfect. The more you use the language the sooner you will
become fluent.
Practice whenever you can, even if you are simply talking to
yourself.
Once you have learned the best way to structure your
learning, you will find that the Arabic language is not as
complicated as you once thought.
